About
Johns's artistic exploration extends across large-scale painting and sculpture. Embracing a wide spectrum of colors while maintaining cohesion is what she strives to do. Recurring themes include color, form, childhood memories, and girlhood. She focuses on creating diverse pieces that are still able to showcase a consistent artistic style, achieved through the use of consistent color palettes, technique, and form. Art is experimental, and her goal is to explore the progression to womanhood through an almost surreal perspective, aiming to intensify the colors perceived through human eyes and working with great vibrancy. She aims to create a slow biography, one in which a viewer could tell her life story from.
Inspiration for her work is drawn from various sources. Particularly aspects such as color and girlhood out of Johns’ head and into canvas by memory, involving stories and fairytales from her youth, and exploring the memories forgotten. She aims to develop unique value techniques to offer viewers a fresh perspective on modern art interpretation. In the next year before she graduates in the spring of 2026, she would like to explore this concept of memory and history and see how much work, focusing on both quality and quantity, she can create to document her past.
Johns is now on a search for her fondest childhood memory, but not through plucking through, but rather keeping her practice and interpretations enigmatic. She believes in allowing viewers to find their own meaning in her work and to project their own experiences onto hers. She became fascinated with sculpture by experiencing how the medium worked with her and would like to further explore large-scale sculptural builds. Captivated by human life, she intends to continue painting, sculpting, and emphasizing the importance of appreciating the fleeting nature of life through her very own, by forming a narrative of family, identity, and how the past is carried with us.
